An Aramean city David plundered for bronze parallel to Berothai in the Samuel account
AramCun was a major city of the Aramean king Hadadezer of Zobah that fell to King David during his northern campaigns: "from Tibhath, and from Chun, also cities of Hadadezer, David brought very much brass, with which Solomon made the brasen sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of brass" (1 Chronicles 18:8). The parallel passage in 2 Samuel 8:8 names the same city as "Berothai" — the two names probably reflect different scribal traditions for the same Aramean foundry city in the central Beqaa valley. The site is identified with Bereitan or with a nearby tell in modern Lebanon.
