The town past Damascus to which Abram chased Chedorlaomers fleeing army after rescuing Lot
AramHobah was the northernmost point of Abram's lightning pursuit of Chedorlaomer's eastern coalition after they had carried his nephew Lot off as a captive: "And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus" (Genesis 14:15). With only 318 trained men plus his Amorite allies, Abram caught the eastern army by surprise in a night attack and chased them all the way past Damascus before recovering Lot and the captured plunder. The site of Hobah is identified with the area of Choba about 20 km north of Damascus on the road to Hamath.
