A region on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus sailed after feeding the four thousand
GalileeDalmanutha was a small region or harbor on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee where Jesus and his disciples sailed by boat after feeding the four thousand: "And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha" (Mark 8:10). The parallel account in Matthew 15:39 names the same region as "the coasts of Magdala" or "Magadan" — the Galilean harbor town of Magdala. Once at Dalmanutha, Jesus encountered the Pharisees demanding a sign and famously refused, saying "There shall no sign be given unto this generation." The site is generally identified with the cliffs north of Magdala on the Lake's western shore.
