A Moabite town named in Isaiahs lament over the geographic sweep of Moabs coming destruction
MoabEglaim was a Moabite town named in Isaiah's lament over the doomed cities of Moab: "For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beer-elim" (Isaiah 15:8). The prophet traces the geographic sweep of Moab's coming destruction from frontier to frontier through the named towns. The exact site of Eglaim is uncertain but lay on one of the borders of Moab — possibly on the eastern shore of the Dead Sea near the modern village of Rujm el-Jilimeh.
