A boundary point on the western frontier of Zebulun in lower Galilee
GalileeHannathon ("grace") was a boundary point on the western frontier of Zebulun's tribal inheritance named in Joshua 19:14: "And the border compasseth it on the north side to Hannathon: and the outgoings thereof are in the valley of Jiphthah-el." The town appears in the Amarna Letters (14th century BCE) as Hinnatuni — a Canaanite city-state corresponding with Pharaoh Akhenaten. The site is identified with Tel Hannaton on the northern edge of the Beit Netofa valley, where archaeological work has revealed substantial Late Bronze and Iron Age occupation layers.
