The town in Chedorlaomers victory parade later identified with En-gedi the Dead Sea oasis
Judean DesertHazazon-tamar ("pruning of the palm") was a town named in Genesis 14:7 as the last stop in Chedorlaomer's great Transjordan campaign: "And they returned, and came to En-mishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazazon-tamar." The Chronicler explicitly identifies Hazazon-tamar with En-gedi: "There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazon-tamar, which is En-gedi" (2 Chronicles 20:2). The site is the famous Dead Sea oasis on the western shore where palm groves still grow today.
