A southern Negev town in the catalog of Judahs tribal inheritance
NegevHazor-hadattah ("new Hazor") was a southern Negev town in Judah's tribal inheritance, named in Joshua 15:25 in the catalog of cities "in the south country, by the coast of Edom": "And Hazor, Hadattah, and Kerioth, and Hezron, which is Hazor." The Hebrew may be read either as a single compound name "Hazor-hadattah" or as two adjacent towns "Hazor" and "Hadattah" — modern translators differ. The site is uncertain but lay in the southern Negev frontier between settled Judah and the Amalekite-Edomite wilderness, distinct from the famous northern Galilee Hazor.
