A boundary town in the tribal inheritance of Zebulun in lower Galilee
GalileeIdalah was a boundary town in Zebulun's tribal inheritance, named in Joshua 19:15 in the catalog of the third lot at Shiloh: "And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities with their villages." The Bethlehem here is the Galilean Bethlehem (Joshua 19:15) — distinct from the famous Judean Bethlehem of David and Jesus. The exact site of Idalah is uncertain but lay somewhere in lower Galilee between the Sea of Galilee and the western Jezreel Valley, in Zebulun's rich agricultural heartland.
