A Danite coastal-plain town in Joshuas catalog near the Mediterranean
Coastal PlainJehud was one of the cities of Dan's tribal inheritance in the coastal plain corridor, named in Joshua 19:45: "And Jehud, and Bene-berak, and Gath-rimmon." The town lay in the inner Sharon coastal plain between Joppa and the Aijalon Valley, in the cluster of small Danite settlements that the tribe eventually abandoned when Amorite pressure forced their migration north to Laish-Dan. The site is identified with the modern Israeli town of Yehud just east of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, where Iron Age occupation layers preserve the continuity of the ancient site.
