A boundary marker along the southern frontier of Judah between Addar and Azmon
NegevKarka (or Karkaa) appears once in Scripture as a boundary marker along the southern frontier of Judah's tribal inheritance: "And it went out to the south side to Maaleh-acrabbim, and passed along to Zin, and ascended up on the south side unto Kadesh-barnea, and passed along to Hezron, and went up to Adar, and fetched a compass to Karkaa: from thence it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt" (Joshua 15:3-4). The site lies somewhere in the western Negev between Kadesh-barnea and the Brook of Egypt, on the strategic arc separating the Promised Land from Sinai. The exact location remains undetermined.
