A town in the tribal inheritance of Zebulun in lower Galilee listed in Joshuas catalog
GalileeKattath appears once in Scripture as one of twelve cities in the tribal inheritance of Zebulun: "And Kattath, and Nahallal, and Shimron, and Idalah, and Bethlehem: twelve cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the children of Zebulun" (Joshua 19:15-16). The town is generally associated with the later New Testament village of Cana (best known for Jesus's first miracle of turning water to wine at the wedding feast in John 2), though that identification is debated. Kattath lay within Zebulun's lower Galilee allotment, which ran from the Jezreel Valley northward toward the lower Galilean highlands.
