A boundary marker on the western edge of Zebuluns Galilee inheritance
GalileeMareal (also spelled Maralah) appears once in Scripture as a boundary point in the tribal allotment of Zebulun: "And their border went up toward the sea, and Maralah, and reached to Dabbasheth, and reached to the river that is before Jokneam" (Joshua 19:11). The boundary description traces the western edge of Zebulun's allotment as it climbs from the lower Galilee plain westward toward Mareal then northwest to Dabbasheth and the brook that runs past Jokneam — fixing the strategic frontier where Zebulun's tribal territory met Manasseh's. The exact site remains unidentified, but most scholars locate it on the southwestern slopes of lower Galilee near modern Tell el-Tireh.
