The Galilean home of two of Nehemiahs builders and a royal officer of David
GalileeMeronoth ("ridges") was a town in the upper Galilee whose inhabitants are named twice in Scripture, both times in connection with skilled servants of Israel's kings. Jehdeiah the Meronothite kept King David's royal donkeys (1 Chronicles 27:30), one of twelve overseers of the king's herds. Centuries later, Jadon the Meronothite worked alongside the men of Gibeon and Mizpah to rebuild a section of Jerusalem's wall under Nehemiah (Nehemiah 3:7). The site is generally identified with Meron in upper Galilee, ten miles west of Safed.
