A coastal region in southern Asia Minor — where John Mark bailed on Paul
Asia MinorHistorically Verified
A real Roman province in southern Turkey. The cities of Perge and Aspendos have been extensively dug up with impressive ruins still standing.
A narrow coastal region in southern modern-day Turkey. Paul and Barnabas sailed here on their first missionary journey, arriving at the port of Attalia and preaching in Perga. This is where John Mark left them and returned to Jerusalem (Acts 13:13) — a departure that later caused the split between Paul and Barnabas (Acts 15:38). Jews from Pamphylia were present at Pentecost (Acts 2:10).
