A Levitical town in the tribe of Zebulun allotted to the Merarite branch of the Levites and possibly the same site as Chisloth-tabor
GalileeTabor appears in 1 Chronicles 6:77 as a Levitical city given by the tribe of Zebulun to the Merarite branch of the Levites: "Unto the rest of the children of Merari were given out of the tribe of Zebulun, Rimmono with her suburbs, Tabor with her suburbs." This Tabor — distinct from the better-known Mount Tabor that dominates the Jezreel Valley skyline — appears to refer to a settlement at the foot of the mountain, possibly identical with Chisloth-tabor (Joshua 19:12) on Issachar's northern boundary. Some scholars connect it with modern Daburiyeh village on the lower slopes of Mount Tabor, where ancient Israelite remains have been excavated.
