Martha

Martha is one of the two sisters who sends the understated but urgent message to Jesus, trusting that simply informing Him will be enough to move Him to act.

Martha is doing exactly what Martha does — serving the meal, her acts of hospitality contrasting with her sister Mary's extravagant, costly act of devotion.

Martha is the host who welcomes Jesus into her home but becomes so consumed with serving that she misses sitting with Him — she confronts Jesus directly, frustrated that her sister isn't helping.
