A great well near Ramah of Ephraim where King Saul stopped to inquire after David during his pursuit
EphraimSecu appears once in Scripture as a landmark on the route between Gibeah and Ramah of Ephraim where Saul stopped during his pursuit of David: "Then went he also to Ramah, and came to a great well that is in Sechu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they be at Naioth in Ramah. And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God was upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth" (1 Samuel 19:22-23). The great well functioned as the natural gathering point and information exchange of the Benjaminite-Ephraimite frontier — and the Spirit-induced prophetic ecstasy that overcame Saul there made for an unforgettable proverb.
